Staff Software Engineer, Ecosystem

ABOUT AIRWALLEX Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own. We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. Build secure, reliable APIs, SDKs, webhooks and UI-extension patterns that enable third-party developers and partners to build on Airwallex. - Improve developer experience through documentation, sandboxes, and tooling. - Partner with engineering, product, design, and go-to-market teams to deliver secure, reliable experiences. You’ll work from our Singapore office five days a week.   WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Essentials - A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. - 7+ years of experience developing internet applications, large financial systems, or e-commerce platforms. - Strong programming or scripting skills in a language such as Java, Kotlin, C++, Python or a similar language. - Deep familiarity with the standard library, idiomatic usage, and best practices of your primary programming language. - Direct experience building or maintaining a public-facing developer platform, app marketplace, or extension framework. - Experience designing scalable systems and making sound architectural decisions across complex technical domains. - A track record of leading ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives from technical strategy through delivery. Preferred - Deep expertise in Domain-Driven Design and applying it to complex business logic and microservice boundaries. - Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and advanced observability tools. - Experience integrating AI or large language models to automate integration workflows or improve developer tooling. YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF - You're comfortable owning the roadmap yourself. - You own the outcome and you don't wait for permission to fix what's broken. - You're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and moving quickly anyway. - You connect dots across functions and hold the big picture without losing grip on the details. - You simplify complexity rather than hiding behind it. LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR TEAM The Ecosystem & Integration Platform team is a cross-functional group of engineers and product partners building the platforms and integrations that connect Airwallex with the software our customers already rely on. We own strategic accounting, marketplace, payment plugins, and open-banking integrations, plus the infrastructure behind our public APIs that let third-party partners build on top of Airwallex. You'll work closely with backend, product, design, and go-to-market teams to ship secure, reliable experiences. If you want to simplify financial operations for businesses of all sizes and unlock new use cases on top of the Airwallex business account, this is where that work happens.   APPLICANT SAFETY POLICY: FRAUD AND THIRD-PARTY RECRUITERS To protect you from recruitment scams, please be aware that Airwallex will not ask for bank details, sensitive ID numbers (i.e. passport), or any form of payment during the application or interview process.
